King James Only
While we are not part of the King-James-Only Movement, many among us use only the King James Version. We have many things in common with Baptists who are part of the King-James-Only movement, but we differ with those among them who believe that to use any modern version at all is to be spiritually suspect.
While the Webmaster uses a few modern translations, he stays clear of most of them. Because he believes the Revised Standard Version has a liberal slant, he neither uses nor recommends it. He also stays clear of those versions based on the Revised Standard Version. He recommends only the following versions: King James Version, New King James Version, American Standard Version, New American Standard Version, and Holman Christian Standard Version.
Until 2011 he used the New International Version 1984 (not the 2011 edition). When the New International Version 1984 was replaced by the 2011 edition, he noticed that he was preaching from a version that was no longer available to many in his congregation. Some of his congregation even purchased a 2011 edition thinking it was the same. To avoid confusion, he no longer uses the NIV 1984 in public ministry.
He does not recommend the English Standard Version because of its roots in the Revised Standard Version, although it is a big improvement over the Revised Standard Version.
This list is not exhaustive, but should be enough to reveal the mindset of the Webmaster.
